a piece of me

A mixed-media artist, activist, educator, and writer, exploring the creative possibilities of a broad range of natural and man-made materials.

THE PHILOSOPHY • BRICOLAGE WITH A FORAGER’S EYE

A friend calls me a hunter gatherer for art...

I collect natural materials and man made detritus routinely discarded as worthless, combining and transforming them into new entities that bear the marks of their origins, history and alteration.

... another term for this practice is “bricolage”, which I think of as the practice of seeing and recognizing the possibilities in found and discarded materials and giving them new life through the act of repurposing them.

THE MAKING • THE WORTHINESS OF ALL MATTER

The inherent worthiness of all matter and rejection of a hierarchy of values and the urgent need to preserve our ecosystem underlie my work.
